Introduction
Empeon's Employee Self-Service (ESS) Hub offers employees the convenience of 24/7 access to review and manage their essential employment and pay information. Additionally, ESS serves as a direct channel for employers and their employees to share messages, documents, and tasks in a clear and confidential manner. The ESS Hub portal accommodates both PC and smart device browsers, ensuring that employees can access their information at any time and from any location. This article outlines the primary features and capabilities of ESS, while also exploring the different methods available for employees to access their account.
The Primary Features of ESS Hub detailed below are available to all employees whose employer utilizes Empeon for payroll processing. Depending on other Empeon services an employer may use, there may be additional ESS Hub features employees can utilize. For more information on additional features available in ESS Hub, review Empeon's ESS Hub Additional Features article.
Accessing the ESS Hub
Employees can login to their ESS Hub account by visiting https://hub.empeon.com/signin using their PC or smart device web browser. Empeon also offers an ESS Hub app, available on the Apple Store by searching "Empeon Hub". Currently an installable app is only available on the Apple Store, however the app's interface and features are identical to how the ESS Hub will function using a smart device or PC's web browser. Employees logging in for the first time will need to first register their account. For more information on how to register an ESS account, review Empeon's First Time Login Instructions.
Primary Features
Primary features are functions available for all employees with ESS access, regardless of any additional features or permissions that are enabled. These features include the Employee Profile, ESS Inbox, Paystubs, and Docs. Once signed in, the first screen that will appear is the Home Dashboard. The home dashboard provides employees with a central hub of employee-related information with quick links to other sections within the self-service portal.
ESS Hub Inbox
Exclusively located on the Home Dashboard, the ESS Hub Inbox is where employers can share important information and documentation with their employees.
Within the desktop view, there is a section available on the Home Dashboard to access the ESS Hub Inbox. For employees using a smart device, the ESS Hub Inbox can be accessed by tapping the 'bell' button on the top right corner of your screen. Any time a new item is sent to the Inbox, this button will show a red notification indicator so that employees know there are new items to review.
Employee Profile
The Employee Profile is where employees can view their employment information and upload a profile picture to Empeon. It is also where employees can review their contact, employment, tax withholding, and direct deposit information. Employees may have the option to edit some or all of these items themselves, though this level of access is under the discretion of the employer. For employees who determine that they can edit contact, direct deposit, and tax withholding settings, review Empeon's ESS Hub Additional Features article for more information on how to best edit these items.
Within the desktop view, there will be a "Profile" button available on the home dashboard right underneath the employee's name and picture. There is also a "Profile" tab on the lefthand menu. For employees using a smart device, the Employee Profile can be accessed by selecting the tab for "Profile" on the left-hand menu. The left-hand menu will need to be made available by clicking the 'menu' button on the top right corner of your screen.
Docs
The Docs tab is where employees can access documents shared with them by the employer. All documents that have been shared with the employee will be stored here, though employees will also have the option to download them as PDF files. Documents that were included within a Path will be viewed and completed within the ESS Hub Inbox and then once completed be stored within the Docs section. Employees can also access their year-end W-2 and 1095 tax forms, if they are enrolled to receive these forms electronically.
Paystubs
The Paystubs tab from the left-hand menu is where employees can go to view their pay stub history by check date. Employees will be able to see both the gross and net amounts for each check they have received and download the pay stub as a PDF file. Please note that for some touchscreen devices, the user may need to tap the gross summary card for the “Download” link to appear.
In both the desktop view and smart device view, employees will also have a section on their Home Dashboard for "Latest Pay" information. This section will be masked until the blue button labeled "View pay information" is clicked. This will temporarily display the employee's most recent pay stub and provide the option to download the pay stub as a PDF file. Additionally, there is a "View history" button that serves as a quick link to the Paystubs tab for employees to view their paystub history.
