Introduction
This article explains how to send Paths to employees and what to consider when doing so. Paths is a feature that allows for the creation of customized task sequences for employees, managers and Users to complete. These tasks can encompass various activities, such as watching a video, uploading a document, or reviewing and/or signing documents relating to company policies.
Once a Path is created, it will be available for distribution to employees for completion. However, how the Path is sent will depend on the recipient it is being sent to. For employees new to the organization who are being onboarded, the Path should be included within their onboarding packet using an Onboarding Template. For ongoing active employees who have completed onboarding, Paths can be shared individually through the Employee Profile or collectively to a group of employees using the ESS Admin feature.
Sending Paths to Individual Employees
1. Navigate to the People Tab.
2. From the lefthand menu, select Employees.
3. Then select the name of the employee the Path should be sent to.
4. Next, select the Paths icon located on the righthand side of the screen.
Next, click on "Share Path". The button for "Path Setup" is a shortcut to the Paths section on Company tab where a Path can be created. This shortcut is useful if a Path needs to be edited before being sent.
When sharing a Path, the system will require the following:
- Select Path - Use the dropdown to select the Path that will be sent to the employee. The available Paths in this dropdown are those that have already been set up within Empeon Workforce. If the desired Path is not listed, it will need to be created first.
- Message to Employee - Adding a message to the employee is optional however if one is provided, the message will appear on the notification within the employee's ESS Hub Inbox prior to reviewing the Path.
Click "Next" to move onto the confirmation screen.
The confirmation screen will help to make sure the appropriate Path is being sent to the correct employee. If everything looks good, click "Send" to send the Path.
Sending Paths to Groups of Employees
1. Navigate to the Actions Tab.
2. From the lefthand menu, select Paths Share.
3. Then click the blue button labeled "Share Path".
On the next screen, it will prompt for the selection of the Path and the employees it should be sent to:
- Select Path - Use the dropdown to select the Path that will be sent to the employee. The available Paths in this dropdown are those that have already been set up within Empeon Workforce. If the desired Path is not listed, it will need to be created first.
- Message to Employee - Adding a message to the employee is optional however if one is provided, the message will appear on the notification within the employee's ESS Hub Inbox prior to reviewing the Path.
- Share path with - Choose which employees will receive the Path. Options include sharing with All Employees or selecting Specific Employees based on assigned Cost Centers or Job Info. For example, to send the Path only to direct care staff such as RN's, CNA's, and LPN's, select Specific Employees, filter by Position, and choose the relevant positions the Path should be sent to.
Once the Path and recipients have been selected, click "Next" to proceed to the confirmation screen.
Click "Send" to officially send the Path to the selected employees. The selected recipients will receive an email notification alerting them that a Path has been sent. The Path can be accessed through this email or directly from the Inbox on their ESS Hub.

This will be what the email looks like for the employee when they receive the Path.
